Source: ABC News Radio. According to the Plain English Foundation a new study from Princeton University shows that writers who use long words needlessly are seen as less intelligent than those who stick with a basic vocabulary. *Now I feel better :-)

ORDER OF THINGS
There is a rightful order found
Beyond the things that seem to be,

Breathe in Breathe out

Today I wheezed, today I sneezed, today I learned a lesson. That breathing in and out each day is really quite a blessing.
Some tubes connect my mouth to my lungs, And at times they swell up like balloons. And when they do, the air squeeks through, so my breathing appears out of tune.
This swelling occurs when I pat the dog, or run out in the cold. When grass is cut, or leaves are raked, or when there's lots of mold.
I’m absent when the tubes swell tight. Some say I'm playing hooky, but when breathing is a struggle, I can't even eat a cookie.
I've learned what I've got is called asthma. It's a good thing for me that I'm bright. I test my breathing at the start of each day, and avoid things that make the tubes tight.
The dog sleeps in the basement. I keep my stuffed toys clean. No one's allowed to smoke inside, hope you don't think that's mean.
Sometimes no matter what I do the tubes swell anyhow, but I have tricks tucked up my sleeve. I'll share some with you now.
I puff special medicine into my mouth with a nebulizer gadget. It works to open up the tubes. It really is like magic.
Before I play some basketball or run out in the rain, I puff a different medicine. Then I can join the game.
I don't eat many junk foods, and I try hard not to whine. These tricks help me stay healthy, So most times I'm just fine.
If breathing in and breathing out a zillion times each day, is something you do without thinking a thought, thank God for this gift when you pray.

The Kiss
It's a bloody mess, but we are happy !
A Recipe for Mothers---
Today I left some dishes dirty.
The bed I made at 3:30.
The nappies soaked a little longer.
The odor grew a little stronger.
The crumbs I spilt the day before
are staring at me from the floor.
The fingerprints there on the wall
will likely still be there next fall.
The dirty streaks on the window panes
will still be there next time it rains.
"Shame on you, old lazy bones," I say...
"And just what have you done today!"
I nursed a baby till he slept.
I held a toddler while he wept.
I played a game of hide and seek.
I squeezed a toy so it would squeak.
I pulled a wagon, sang a song.
Taught a child right from wrong.
What did I do this whole day through?
Not much that it shows,
I guess it's true.
Unless you think that what I've done
might be important to someone.
With bright blue eyes and soft blond hair.
If that is true, I've done my share.

Looking Back
~ I Wish I Could Have Known Me ~
I wish I could have known me, when I was just a child. I think I would have liked the girl who seemed so meek and mild ...The girl who feared rejection, yet had the sweetest spirit; the one who would have been herself, if only she didn't fear it. We would have been the best of friends. I would pull her out of her shell. If I knew, then, what I know now, I would have always said, "Oh, well!" I would tell her, "You'll be pretty some day, when you are grown. Don't worry about freckles or rejection. Worry about the love you've shown." Yes, I wish I would have known me when I was a little girl. Then I could have told myself," In a room of gems, you're a pearl!"

I love that article you site in your blog header! Do you have a link to it! I personally found that many people show off by saying simple things complexly. But after you peel away the words, there's nothing left. This makes me feel less ashamed of my simple vocabulary.
Indeterminacy: I will look into this for you as I do not recall where I found this study. I agree with you. Sometimes I get lost when reading other blogs, and as I "peel away" the excessive use of vocabulary, it lacks any meat to the writing. I also felt better to read this study as I use very simple vocabulary as well. I also want to comment on your blog. I have enjoyed reading and following indeterminacy for many months. Keep up the great work. I need to get back to writing again. I returned to college at 36, so I am alittle immersed in my studies. But, I do enjoy reading my regulars :))

Your blog has many readers and I imagine is equivalent to a full-time job; therefore, I will try to find this again and post it here. I found this article in a psychology journal. Nameste, Jen
