Halloween Scares
Nancy Hughes

Bubble , bubble

toil and trouble.

Witches on brooms,

what a sight!

Goblins and ghouls

acting like fools.

Giving us a fright!

Monsters that groan,

vampires that moan,

things that go bump in the night!

But aren't they sweet

as they cry "trick or treat"

under the bright porch light?

I hope all is well with you and your family, I'm trying to get back to blogging ..it's slow going when I have time ..Im not in the mood and when I don't ..it's then I want to the most.

I thought perhaps the kids might enjoy this halloween poem.

ps, tell your brother I said hello, and that I hope life was being kind to him.

What Bree and Jake Have Learned

Breathe in Breathe out By Joan Fleitas, Ed.D., R.N. Today I wheezed, today I sneezed, today I learned a lesson. That breathing in and out each day is really quite a blessing. Some tubes connect my mouth to my lungs, And at times they swell up like balloons. And when they do, the air squeeks through, so my breathing appears out of tune. This swelling occurs when I pat the dog, or run out in the cold. When grass is cut, or leaves are raked, or when there's lots of mold. I’m absent when the tubes swell tight. Some say I'm playing hooky, but when breathing is a struggle, I can't even eat a cookie. I've learned what I've got is called asthma. It's a good thing for me that I'm bright. I test my breathing at the start of each day, and avoid things that make the tubes tight. The dog sleeps in the basement. I keep my stuffed toys clean. No one's allowed to smoke inside, hope you don't think that's mean. Sometimes no matter what I do the tubes swell anyhow, but I have tricks tucked up my sleeve. I'll share some with you now. I puff special medicine into my mouth with a nebulizer gadget. It works to open up the tubes. It really is like magic. Before I play some basketball or run out in the rain, I puff a different medicine. Then I can join the game. I don't eat many junk foods, and I try hard not to whine. These tricks help me stay healthy, So most times I'm just fine. If breathing in and breathing out a zillion times each day, is something you do without thinking a thought, thank God for this gift when you pray.

It's a bloody mess, but we are happy !

A Recipe for Mothers--- Today I left some dishes dirty. The bed I made at 3:30. The nappies soaked a little longer. The odor grew a little stronger. The crumbs I spilt the day before are staring at me from the floor. The fingerprints there on the wall will likely still be there next fall. The dirty streaks on the window panes will still be there next time it rains. "Shame on you, old lazy bones," I say... "And just what have you done today!" I nursed a baby till he slept. I held a toddler while he wept. I played a game of hide and seek. I squeezed a toy so it would squeak. I pulled a wagon, sang a song. Taught a child right from wrong. What did I do this whole day through? Not much that it shows, I guess it's true. Unless you think that what I've done might be important to someone. With bright blue eyes and soft blond hair. If that is true, I've done my share. © 1996 Wide Smiles
